CULTURE!!

Amy, Sinead and I explored some of the Abu Dhabi Art Fair, starting with “Looking for Pearls” by Rayyane Tabet which involved a trip around LuLu island in a wee boat.  Gorgeous and lovely.

EXPENSIVE CULTURE!!

The Art Fair proper was a melee of stalls from galleries all over the world trying to punt their wares on rich Emiratis.  Skulls were a worrying popular theme.

Sample conversation:

Gallery Owner: “…yes, Hirst developed his dot paintings whilst experimenting with colour…”

Rich Blonde Lady: (interrupting) “Yah, yah, but the best thing is – it’s small.  I mean you know how few walls I have in my apartment – it’s all GLAAHSS.”

I reckon she bought it.  Needless to say, we weren’t bothered AT ALL.  They must have been able to smell the “poor” from us.

LOCAL CULTURE!!!

Driving fast, eating shawarma, drinking milkshakes and smoking shisha (apple and mint flavour).
