Island Mouse has ventured off the island!
In the past couple of weeks I’ve made it down to Edinburgh and Glasgow. Here’s the very Glasgow view of very Glasgow tenements from Sophie and Neil’s flat in Dennistoun…
Then, after catching up with folk at Julie’s henny, I headed off on tour with Tim, who was doing sound for James Yorkston, Jon Thorne and Suhail Yusuf Khan. First we woke up to this view and these knick knacks in a gorgeous, but slightly bizarre house in Fife…
Then we headed up to the Aberfeldy Festival, where Tim did some work making James and Lisa sound lovely and I drank a lot of Dewars Whisky. Well, it was only polite to do so – they were the sponsors…(and it was free)
From North to South – it was time for London. We stayed with Tim’s cousin in the Barbican and I swooned mightily over all the period features and lovely THINGS in her flat…
The London gig was in the beautiful St. Pancras Old Church, which apparently has been continuously worshipped in since 314AD! Wow. The best bit of the night? Catching up with my old housemate and wonderful friend, Kristina. Thank you K, for coming along.
Scotland – England – WALES! We finished up the tour on Anglesey (another island!), in Menai Bridge. It was my first time in Wales and I loved the abundance of Welsh (the language, the accent and the people) everywhere. And the fact that the coast road takes you through tunnels.
We stayed in a lovely studio, tucked away in woodlands, which is apparently very haunted. I was a little disappointed when I had a very deep and pleasant sleep! We arrived at night, and in the morning I had An Explore. There were lush overgrown gardens, mountains, pretty tiles, walls made of slate, buttons and knobs and sliders and faders, music, music, music and a vibraphone. I was particularly fond of the vibraphone.
And here’s a wee video of Lisa O’Neill, who was supporting James. She’s wonderful.
what a fantastic tour (and places)!
love the old-style flat in london, as well as the rest 🙂
