HOLA!
Even though we’ve already been tipped head-first into 2014, I’ve not yet shared my Christmas with you. So, here is my Christmas in the sun, on yet another island – Fuerteventura…
There was sun, sand, sea and lashings of tapas and Rom Miel – insanely delicious honey rum. Tim and I helped by arranging the decorations. First up – classy paper chains…
We saw the Lajares Village local nativity, complete with REAL BABY JESUS! The 3 Kings get an extra big role in the show because they’re the ones who traditionally give out the gifts to children.
We went to Mass. Twice. Although the first one doesn’t really count because it turned out to be a strange but rather entertaining play about a scarecrow. The Christmas Day Mass included a Baby Jesus kissing section, where members of the congregation queued up to kiss the model from the nativity set. I was enthralled.
We had a party for other ex-pat pals from Italy, Denmark, Germany, Argentina and England. Percy the Persian made sure his presence was felt under the tree (GEDDIT?!?)
And once everyone else left we opened our own gifts on the patio, in the sun, surrounded by curious cats. Wonderful!
